About Goa
Goa is a state on the southwestern coast of India. As you travel throughout Goa, you will notice the beautiful beaches, lush greenery and a lot of Portuguese influence not just in the colourful architecture, but in the food and the culture. Goa was a Portuguese colony for over 400 years until 1961.
Goa is a beautiful destination for relaxation and for our yoga retreat.
Climate
The average temperature for our trip in November/December is anywhere from 22C to 34C. The sun shines for 9 hours and the evening can be as low as 22C.
Goa Cuisine
The delicious food has a blend of Portuguese influence, coastal flavours and local spices. Depending on the region the staple food can be rice, fish curry ,coconuts, mangoes, and local spices. Our retreat caters to your dietary needs.
Goa Airports
There are two airports in Goa.
- Our Retreat is in north Goa. The airport closest to our retreat is Manohar Internation Airport (GOX) located in Mopa, North Goa.
- The other airport is in Goa Dabolim International (GOI) in the village of Dabolim which is located near the capital city Panaji.
Travelling within India
Coming to Goa for our retreat also gives you the opportunity to consider spending more time within India. You can do it before the Retreat or after when you feel more accustomed to the Indian lifestyle.
Like all of us, we love to see the Taj Mahal. Why not, since you are here. You can take a flight from Goa to Mumbai or Delhi then on to Agra (where the Taj Mahal is ) and explore the area. We have also found in our travels a lot of people like to do what’s called the Golden Triangle which consist of Delhi, Agra and Jaipur. You can book a group tour (before you leave home) or create your own.
It would be wise to book all your flights before you leave home. It makes life a lot easier. If you need assistance, just let us know.
How to get to our Retreat
Step 1
You need to get a Visa to enter India. You can apply on-line for an E-visa which we found to be easier and quicker than applying in person. Also make sure your passport is updated.
Step 2
Book the flights early. Many ways to get to Goa. You can opt for a flight to Delhi or Mumbai.
- If you are flying to Delhi, then you need to take a domestic flight ( such as Air India or Indigo ) to North Goa airport (GOX). Its a 5-hour flight from Delhi to North Goa.
- If you are flying to Mumbai than you need to take a domestic flight ( such as Air India or Indigo) to North Goa (GOX). The flight is 1 hour from Mumbai.
Step 3:
From the airport you take a taxi to Nalanda Retreat which is 30 km away or we can arrange for a taxi at your expense.
Meet the Teacher
Hi…
Nice to meet you. My name is Jugjeet and I live in Canada. I was introduced to Yoga when I was trying to figure out my purpose in life.
I completed my 200-hour of Yoga Teacher Training in 2015 and continued studying to complete my 500-hour. I am trained in Hatha, Yin, Restorative, Kundalini and Power Vinyasa. I have and still am taking courses in yoga philosophy, history and ancient texts for self study.
At present, I am a studio owner teaching regular yoga classes as well as Yoga for Beginners and the Satya Yoga 200-hour Teacher Training program. My teaching style is integrating ancient yoga traditions with philosophy into the modern practice.
I invite you to join me in Goa, India as we broaden our horizon. Lets cultivate habits to become more present in our lives. Mindfulness, which is more important now than ever before, is the focus of our Retreat. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to disconnect from the world and to reconnect with your true self in a serene natural setting.
Lets’ do this.
